Title:
Rice: How Safe Is Our Food? Channel 4 Dispatches
Description:
Morland Sanders investigates why leading scientists and
experts are warning that some types of commonly consumed
rice
contain a worrying level of naturally occurring
arsenic. While there are strict limits for the arsenic level
permitted in water, there are currently no maximum levels
for
our food and some scientists are now speaking out as
they
are concerned about the effects of long-term exposure.
As
more evidence emerges about the harm high levels of
arsenic might cause, particularly to children, new maximum
levels
are being proposed by the government and the European
Union
