climate, but it’s a sector that’s vital to the British
economy. Alex Polizzi is called in to help out a family-run
business based around a working windmill in Norfolk. However

Title: Gok Wan: Made in China
Description: Documentary in which Gok Wan travels back to his ancestral
homeland to explore the largely unseen world of Chinese mass
production and meet the people working in its factories. He
investigates how the Chinese are able to cheaply produce
well-made goods on such an enormous scale, and also
undertakes a personal journey, visiting the village in which
his father grew up. Gok visits Xintang, known as ’Jeans
Town’, an entire town dedicated to making 260 million
pairs of jeans every year, along with ’Bra Town’, where
millions of bras up to 52DD size are produced for women in
Britain and the rest of the world. He makes a trip to the
factory that now makes London taxis, and discovers the
surreal side of China’s obsession with copying when he
explores Thames Town, a perfect replica of an English market
town. His travels end in ultra-modern Shanghai, where he
meets a stylist pushing the boundaries in Chinese fashion
Broadcast: 7 Mar 2012, 20:00 (60 mins)
